๐ŸŽฎ Bembe: The Son of Prophecy โ€“ A 7DRL Challenge Game

๐Ÿ” About the Game

Bembe is a fast-paced roguelike created during the 7DRL Challenge 2023. Set in a mythological world inspired by ancient tribal motifs, the game challenges players to explore, survive, and uncover the prophecy of a forgotten son. Developed in just 7 days by the 7DRL_Group and Saito Interactive, it features hand-crafted pixel art and intense gameplay loops.

๐ŸŽง My Role: Composer & Sound Designer

I was responsible for the entire audio experience: from sound design to composing the original soundtrack. My goal was to create a raw, immersive atmosphere that matched the gameโ€™s tribal aesthetic and fast-paced action.
Key Contributions:
Composed 3 original music tracks using Ableton Live
Created all in-game SFX (movement, attacks, UI, item pickups)
Blended field recordings of drums, shakers, and wood textures with analog synths
Designed reactive audio layers that intensify during combat

This was a great exercise in speed, focus, and creative limitation. I learned how to make bold audio decisions quickly, balance tones with gameplay dynamics, and work efficiently with a remote dev team on a tight deadline.
