SafeCabinet - Flutterflow Medicine Safety App

SafeCabinet is a household medicine safety app that helps families keep track of what is in the medicine cabinet, when it expires, and whether it has been recalled. Expired or recalled medication is a quiet risk in most homes, and there was no simple way to stay on top of it. SafeCabinet was built to close that gap with a clear urgency dashboard, layered expiry alerts, and live FDA recall checks. The brief was a cross-platform mobile MVP with a free tier to drive adoption and a Pro subscription for the features that do the heavy lifting.

Platform Choice: Built with FlutterFlow for iOS and Android from a single codebase, so both stores could launch together.

Free to Pro Funnel: The free tier covers manual tracking and basic alerts, while Pro unlocks the features people pay for. Recall checks and barcode scanning sit behind a 7 day trial.

FDA Data Integration: Barcode scan to add medicines and live recall checking are powered by FDA data, which is the core safety value of the product.

Smart Alerting: Layered expiry reminders at 30, 7, and 1 day, plus an urgency dashboard, so nothing slips through on the day it matters.

Monetization: Subscriptions run through RevenueCat, which kept billing clean across both platforms without custom payment plumbing.

Admin & Oversight: A web based admin panel, also built in FlutterFlow, gives the client control over the platform and its data from the browser.

We mapped the free and Pro tiers up front so the paywall was designed in, not retrofitted. Planning focused on which features earned a place behind the subscription, and on how FDA data would flow into both scanning and recall checks.

The design centered on the urgency dashboard, making it instantly clear what is expiring soon, what has been recalled, and what is fine. The free tier was designed to show enough value to convert, including a blurred recall warning that hints at what Pro unlocks.

We built the full cabinet tracking system, barcode scanning against FDA data, Recall Guard for live recall checks, the layered alert engine, and optional sharing for family members with location tags. Supabase handled data and auth, Firebase and OneSignal handled notifications, and RevenueCat handled subscriptions. A web based admin panel was built alongside the app for oversight.

The core flows of adding, scanning, alerting, and subscribing were tested across both platforms, then the app shipped to the App Store and Google Play together. The build was kept stable so families could rely on it for something that genuinely matters to their safety.
