Overview 🔎
The Adecco Group is a Fortune 500 company leader in HR recruiting services, such as recruitment, staffing, training, and career management. The company operates in over 100 countries and has a workforce of more than 370,000 people worldwide. As Lead Product Manager, my primary responsibility was to develop a strategy that would enable the company to digitalize their manual services and streamline their processes.
Problem & Solution 🤝
Problem: Most of the core activities of the Adecco Group, such as screening, hiring, and managing their temporary workforce, involved manual processes executed by recruiters in physical branches worldwide. This was an expensive and inefficient process for the company, given the available technologies.
Solution: Leverage AI and ML to automate manual processes performed by recruiters using a conversational AI chatbot named Career Assistant. The chatbot's aim was to handle job seeker queries, screen candidates, and select the best fits for job roles.
Goals during year 1 🎯
Expand Career Assistant adoption to 12 countries
Launch over 10,000 job screening conversations
Match 70% of screened candidates to suitable jobs
Process 🛣
Strategy: After setting the goals, I created the strategy to achieve them. This included developing the product and business strategies, determining the go-to-market plans, managing budgets, and hiring the right resources to execute the strategies.
Leadership: I led a fully cross-functional team, which included designers, marketers, software developers, and data scientists. I also coordinated with stakeholders worldwide to gather requirements and orchestrate the adoption of the product.
From 0 to MVP: We started with customer discovery, defining scope and requirements, selecting the right technologies and partners, and developing the product. I worked closely with data scientists and software engineers to develop an algorithm to match candidates with the right job opportunities.
Streamlining Business Processes: I analyzed our recruiters' screening processes and digitalized their workflow. Together with my team, we created a platform in which recruiters could create a screening process and launch it via SMS to thousands of candidates with one click.
Job Matching Conversations and FAQ: We released a chatbot able to answer job seekers' queries and match candidates looking for jobs with relevant open positions.
Results after year 1 🥇
Career Assistant adoption expanded to 24 countries, surpassing the initial goal by over 50%
Over 36,000 job screening conversations launched, exceeding the initial target by over 260%
Successful matching of 40% of screened candidates to jobs, slightly below the original aim. Iterations and algorithm adjustments were required in the following year to reach the desired result
