Overview

This project involved 5 different students that were tasked to recreate the website using standard design principles. The main objective was to cater to the user by first finding out the common reasons why they were there and incorporate a design that would make it easier to get them to their destination.

We also met with the director of CET to better understand what their intent was with this website. Their main objective was to give students an overview on what type of projects this program offered.

Our intention was to empathize with both the user and the intentions of this website and portray that through our design.

Problem & Solution

Testing proved that this website created extra steps for students to get to where they needed to. After doing heat maps and creating different scenarios we found that it required 6-8 clicks to get to the intended destinations.

Process

We agreed that making a site map would help us create a better understanding of the pages that we were working with so that we could see if there was anything that needed to be condensed or taken out entirely.

After putting together a road map and assigning tasks amongst each other we got to work on our first iteration.

Results

We tested our first iteration with the hope of minimizing the amount of steps in order to get to an intended program for a student and we had a small win. We still felt like there was more that we could do so we created a second and final iteration based on our previous results.

Takeaways

I was quite proud of our final iteration. A Classmate and I ran into a huge dilemma when 3 of the other students stopped showing up and weren't turning in their work, we had to take on all projects ourselves and were able to execute it successfully. We worked very hard on the final product and were able to present this design and data to the director.
