About the Project:

The Maine Federation of Farmers' Markets (MFFM) project involved designing a new website to better serve the needs of farmers, market organizers, and consumers. As the UX Designer, I led the project from concept to implementation, focusing on creating an intuitive user interface and seamless user experience to connect farmers with consumers and facilitate market operations. My role included conducting a full content audit and redesigning the website to ensure it was relevant, updated, and user-friendly.

Solution:

To address the needs of the Maine Federation of Farmers' Markets (MFFM), I designed a robust information architecture to effectively organize and present market locations, schedules, vendor profiles, and resources for farmers and market organizers. I defined users by creating detailed personas and user flows, which guided the design process. To enhance user engagement, I introduced interactive features that improved participation and communication between stakeholders. Through extensive research, I created a user-centric design with intuitive navigation and clear information hierarchy. I also implemented custom features such as interactive maps, vendor directories, event calendars, and resource libraries to streamline access to information. Additionally, I created wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes, ensuring the website was responsive and optimized for various devices, facilitating easy access on mobile and tablets.

Impact/Results:

The new website significantly improved accessibility, making it easier for farmers, market organizers, and consumers to find relevant information, locate markets, and connect, which led to increased participation and engagement. Tools such as vendor directories and event calendars streamlined market operations and communication, reducing administrative burdens and improving efficiency for organizers. Additionally, the visually appealing and user-friendly design enhanced MFFM's online presence, attracting more visitors and raising awareness of farmers' markets across Maine, ultimately supporting local agriculture and sustainable food systems. Overall, the project successfully addressed MFFM's challenges, delivering a comprehensive solution that benefited all stakeholders and positively impacted local communities.
