Ferrari
Ferrari has launched its newest performance beast, the SF90 XX. The double-X is a symbol of pure power and track prowess in the world of Ferrari, and the new iteration of this plug-in hybrid hypercar is no different. With an exclusive production of 799 Stradale coupes and 599 Spider convertibles, it’s no surprise that the SF90 XX is already sold out.
The SF90 XX is lighter, more powerful, and features revised aerodynamics. What’s even more exciting is that this is the first XX variant that is street-legal, toeing the line between a racing car and a roadworthy sports car.
This special-edition SF90 comes equipped with a cutting-edge Extra Boost system, inspired by Ferrari’s Formula 1 program. The lucky owners of this limited-run Ferrari will get an adrenaline-fueled ride like no other.

The Extra Boost Feature Unleashes Incredible Acceleration

Ferrari
Powering the SF90 XX is the same impressive plug-in-hybrid powertrain found in the standard model— a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine complemented by three electric motors. All of this power is managed by an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, ensuring an exhilarating driving experience with the confidence of all-wheel drive.
Ferrari's engineers have fine-tuned the engine and electric motor software for the SF90 XX, extracting even more power from it. The improved performance is due to new pistons and a higher compression ratio, as well as polished inlet and exhaust ports for improved airflow. Combined with the exciting new Extra Boost feature for the electric motors, the SF90 XX now commands a total system output of 1,016 hp. That’s a remarkable gain of 30 hp over the standard model.
The ferocious capability of the SF90 XX’s Extra Boost feature is reserved for the Qualifying drive mode. This mode— easily accessed from a selection on the steering wheel— is designed to swiftly accelerate the car as you exit a corner and is triggered when the driver floors the throttle.
The system operates using “tokens”. The 7.9kWh battery is divided into 30 tokens, representing the remaining charge. The number of remaining tokens is displayed on the instrument cluster. Ferrari guarantees this feature will be fully usable for at least one or more laps on a racetrack before the battery is depleted.
The SF90 XX unleashes mind-boggling acceleration when in Qualifying mode. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds and doubles that speed just 4.2 seconds later. When tested around the Fiorano circuit, engaging the Extra Boost feature dropped 0.25 seconds from its lap time, consuming seven of the 30 tokens available.

The Ferrari SF90 XX Sounds Amazing

Ferrari
In addition to the impressive powertrain tuning, Ferrari has put considerable effort into refining the exhaust system, resulting in a more pronounced and immersive auditory experience. A “fuller, richer sound” is produced from the reworked system. While most automakers try to dampen the sound inside the cabin, Ferrari has sought to give the driver the full experience of a race car. An intense and raspy sound is funneled into the cabin via a tube from the intake.
Some noteworthy improvements have been made to the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox that enhances the auditory experience, as well. The transmission has been retuned using new shift logic inspired by the Ferrari Daytona SP3 hypercar. The result is not only enhanced acceleration but also a more intense gear-shift sound accompanied by an exciting lift-off overrun at higher RPMs.

This Is The Most Aerodynamic Road-Legal Ferrari

Ferrari
The aerodynamics of the SF90 XX have been enhanced, as well. One of the standout features is the reintroduction of a fixed rear spoiler— the first on a road-legal Ferrari since the F50 hypercar from the 90s. Ferrari boasts that this car achieves a level of aerodynamic efficiency unparalleled by any of their road-going cars, comparable only to the LaFerrari. The downforce figures speak for themselves. At 155 mph, the SF90 XX generates a maximum downforce of 1,168 lbs., a significant leap from the 860 lbs. of the SF90 Stradale.
The SF90 XX’s hood features two distinctive “S-duct” nostrils that act as exhaust outlets for the air passing through the front radiators. The hot air expelled from these accented ducts flows up and over the car’s roof, as cooler air is directed around the cockpit, passing through the large side apertures designed to cool the V8 engine. These features alone provide a 20 percent increase in front-end downforce compared to the regular SF90 model.
The aerodynamic enhancements don’t stop there. New panels have been installed underneath the car to improve air extraction. Also, a larger front splitter and wheel arch louvres contribute to better airflow management. The rear end of the SF90 XX has also received a makeover, featuring a striking full-width LED taillight bar, as well as a large lower diffuser. New star-shaped alloy wheels add a touch of style to the XX.
The SF90 XX is (or was) available as a Stradale coupe or Spider convertible body style. The Spider variant features a retractable hard-top aluminum roof, which can deploy or retract smoothly in just 14 seconds.

The SF90 XX Features Ultralight Racing Seats

Ferrari
Ferrari’s designers have made additional weight savings in the interior of the SF90 XX. The door panels and floor mats have been simplified. Another noticeable change is the repositioned gear selector, with the chrome lever now moved further forward on the center console. The power window switches have also been moved further back.
The SF90 XX uses less material for its center console, and it is now made of matte-finished carbon fiber. Additionally, the dashboard is wrapped in Alcantara, a lightweight synthetic suede material. Ferrari has also incorporated colored highlights across the door panels and dashboard, adding a vibrant and dynamic touch to the interior.
The new racing seats are made of carbon-fiber construction with plush suede upholstery. Although they seem fixed, the seats are adjustable and use newly designed adjustment controls made of elastic trim materials. The combination of these materials makes these the lightest seats ever fitted to a Ferrari.
The Stradale has a price tag of $844,000, while the Spider is a bit pricier, at $932,000. But if you were hoping to get your hands on one of these limited-edition SF90 XX models, you’re unfortunately out of luck. Ferrari has capped production at just 799 SF90 XX Stradales and 599 SF90 XX Spiders. With their impressive features, it’s no wonder why these exclusive models are in high demand.
