The brief

Modulor Audio
A redesign of moduloraudio.com for Modulor Audio, an independent developer of audio plugins in the UK. The client felt the site looked dated and wanted to move to a new version quickly. We agreed the project on 1 November, sent a moodboard the same day, delivered hero concepts and a home page shaped by the client's feedback the next day, then built the new design inside the client's existing Framer project.
At a glance — Client: Modulor Audio · United Kingdom · Industry: Audio plugins, creative industries · Timeline: Moodboard on day one, home page on day two · Services: Website Design, Framer Development · Tools: Figma, Framer

About the project

Modulor Audio is an independent developer of audio plugins in the UK. Its first plugin is Coalesce, a free bidirectional delay for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU and AAX formats. The studio sells on fair, fixed prices with no subscriptions, and the website has to say that as clearly as it shows the plugin.
We redesigned the site in Figma and built the new version inside the client's existing Framer project.

What the client asked for

The client felt the site looked dated and wanted to move to a new version quickly. Along the way they gave clear direction.
No download button in the navigation: an announcement bar at the top carries the latest release instead.
Account and cart stay as icon buttons in the navigation.
The pricing section carries two promises: free means free, and prices stay consistent apart from the occasional seasonal sale.

The challenge

01 A site that looked dated — The client felt the old pages looked dated next to the plugins they were there to sell.
02 Plugin images that could not carry the site — Interface screenshots from the client's own plugins were not high enough quality for a modern site.
03 Speed — The client wanted the new version fast, so the first directions had to be ready within a day.
04 An existing Framer project — The new design had to be built inside the project the client already had, without breaking the live pages.
05 Promises that had to be easy to trust — Free plugins stay free and prices stay where they are set.

Moodboard and hero concepts

We agreed the project on 1 November and sent a moodboard the same day. The next day we delivered hero concepts so the client could react to real options. The client chose C2, a minimal split hero with the studio photo and a small plugin panel.

The home page

The home page was designed alongside the hero concepts, with the client's feedback worked in. It runs from the announcement bar and hero to the featured plugin, the FX chain, pricing with the two promises, questions and a newsletter sign-up.

The Coalesce product page

Coalesce gets a page of its own, headed "A delay that runs both ways." It walks through direction control, the six-unit FX chain, diffusion and ducker, compatibility with changelog, and pricing.

Interfaces drawn for the site

Instead of low-quality plugin screenshots, we drew new interfaces that look like the plugins: knobs, sliders, FX chain, diffusion and ducker panels.

Plugins, contact, policy and changelog

The same system carries through the plugins page, contact page, AI usage policy and changelog.

Built in the client's Framer project

We worked on a branch in the client's Framer project. Old work went into Old style; new styles and a component library were built from scratch. Member login and sign up used a Framer code component.

QA, handover and launch

We tested across breakpoints, handed the project over, and the new site was published.
