C-Tact vision: Assistive augmented reality classroom

C-tact vision is a Augmented reality headset that is designed specifically for physically impaired users to have equal access to education and integrate into the campus community.
The future vision is for QUTs digital campus to be fully functioning by the year 2050. To have innovative and seamless technology integrated to enhance and support QUT curriculum. The headset is one part of a wearable fashion line, with each product complimenting the functionality and purpose of each device.

Prompt

QUT wishes to create a development plan for a digital campus by the year 2050, the design must address at least one of to the UN's SDG's in order to address sustainability concerns. SDG 10 (reduced inequalities was selected for this project).

Initial questions

Why is Disability a sustainability problem?
How can a technology focused solution reduce inequality within a digital campus?
What are the considerations necessary for Users adopting assistive technology?

Research findings / Pain points

There is a significant tie between place and community
Physical impairments often make traditional interfaces and educational resources often inaccessible
Using technology to aid complicated customization processes is essential to be more efficient and effective.

Impact on Users

Eye controlled User Interface

Eye tracking software is utilized to navigate the interface, to offer more freedom from mobility impairments.

Augmented Reality classrooms

Students that would otherwise not have access to the physical classroom, can utilise virtual AR meetings. ignoring the difference in location, users can form a tangible presence in a space they don't occupy.

Accessible course content

Pushing for AR teaching, course content has the freedom to be audio, visual or written format, allowing for content to fit student needs.

Artifical Intellegence offering Independence

A.I is able to provide a level of independence through accessibility features. By offering real time captioning, text summarization and lip reading.
