Branding AnchorLex

Introduction

AnchorLex is a legal technology platform designed to automate one of the most time-consuming tasks in law firms—deadline entry. By transforming court orders into structured calendar events, the platform eliminates manual docketing, saving time while significantly improving accuracy. Built for legal assistants and litigation teams, AnchorLex combines AI-powered extraction with human validation to ensure precision and control in legal workflows.

Project Scope

The project centered on building a foundational brand identity for AnchorLex from the ground up. The objective was to create a brand that communicates trust, precision, and modern efficiency—aligned with the expectations of legal professionals while still feeling intuitive and technology-driven.
The engagement covered both visual identity and strategic brand elements, ensuring AnchorLex could present itself consistently across product, web, and communication touchpoints.
Brand Style Development
Defined a cohesive color palette aligned with the brand’s positioning
Established typography guidelines for consistent usage across all materials
Created logo usage and brand element rules to maintain visual consistency
Delivered a comprehensive brand guidelines document covering all identity elements

My Role (Brand Designer)

I led the brand design process end-to-end, translating AnchorLex’s product vision into a clear, scalable identity.
From early concept exploration to final system delivery, I focused on building a brand that balances legal professionalism with modern SaaS clarity.

Here’s a look at how I approached the process.

1. Moodboard Exploration

Multiple moodboards were created to explore different visual directions—ranging from more traditional legal aesthetics to modern SaaS-inspired styles.
Each moodboard wasn’t just visual inspiration; it represented a distinct strategic direction, combining color, typography, imagery style, and UI references. This helped frame design decisions in a structured way rather than isolated preferences.

2. Interactive Visual Exercise (45 mins)

To eliminate subjective feedback loops, I conducted a 45-minute interactive session with the client.
Instead of asking “what do you like?”, the session was designed around quick, instinctive choices:
Selecting between contrasting visual styles
Reacting to typography pairings and color systems
Identifying what feels “on-brand” vs “off-brand”
This exercise helped surface clear patterns in preference and decision-making, turning abstract opinions into actionable creative direction. It significantly reduced ambiguity and ensured both sides were aligned early on.

3. Direction Alignment

Insights from the session were consolidated into a single, focused creative direction.
This step translated preferences into principles—defining how the brand should feel (e.g., structured yet modern, professional yet approachable) and how that reflects in design systems like spacing, type, and color usage.

4. Logo Concept Development

Based on the aligned direction, three distinct logo concepts were created. Each concept explored a different interpretation of the brand—while still staying within the agreed visual territory.
The concepts were presented with context, showing how they would live across real applications rather than as standalone marks.

Outcome

The project resulted in a clear, cohesive brand foundation that positions AnchorLex as a modern and trustworthy legal-tech solution. The identity balances precision and simplicity—reflecting the product’s ability to handle complex legal workflows with ease.
