Designing effective data products

Jordan Lopez

Business Analyst

My client’s main responsibility was to process and enrich incoming data sources before distributing outputs to the wider business, thereby improving operational performance. Provided only with an outline brief of a customer requirement, I identified and constrained the project scope in addition to defining the delivery approach for the development and implementation of the solution.

I achieved this by:
Defining the problem statement, stakeholder landscape, project outputs, key risks and constraints,
Eliciting and capturing requirements by conducting document reviews and engaging with stakeholders through interviews and workshop facilitation,
Mapping the existing business and technical processes (as-is processes) which needed to be improved upon,
Validating requirements, user stories and process maps through stakeholder engagement and by hosting governance reviews,
Designing and briefing out the conceptual architecture for the solution that supports the to-be process map, before handing it over to the client’s technical teams,
Capturing a detailed list of project dependencies and determining the delivery approach (Agile, Scrum),
Determining the product roadmap based upon the project requirements and business constraints, clearly defining the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and future features to be included,
Producing a project delivery plan compatible with Agile methodologies, outlining the critical path to MVP,
Mentoring others in how to perform the above.
