BisViews : Building Trust Through Verified Business Reviews

UX / Product Design Case Study

📍 Nigeria | Web Platform | 2024–2025 👩🏽‍💻 Role: Product Manager, UX Designer, Research Lead 🧰 Tools: Figma · Miro · Trello · Canva · Google Analytics · Hotjar

01. Introduction

BisViews is a web platform that helps people discover trustworthy businesses and share authentic reviews in Nigeria and other African markets. For businesses, it’s a digital reputation system helping them gain visibility, collect feedback, and build credibility in one place.
đź’ˇ Tagline: Authentic voices. Verified experiences.

02. The Challenge

In African markets, trust is fragile. Scams, fake business pages, and unreliable social media reviews make it hard for customers to know which businesses are real — and equally hard for good businesses to prove their credibility.
Problems we discovered:
No central platform for verified local business reviews.
Business owners can’t manage feedback effectively.
Customers rely on comments or DMs instead of structured reviews.
👉 Goal: Build a trustworthy, localized, and easy-to-use review ecosystem that connects customers and businesses transparently.

03. Research Process

User Interviews

We spoke with:
10+ business owners (vendors, consultants, service providers)
15+ customers (ages 18–45, frequent online shoppers)
Insights
83% check reviews before paying.
72% of SMEs have never collected structured feedback.
68% said social media reviews felt unreliable or fake.

Competitor Analysis

We analyzed Trustpilot, SiteJabber, and Google Reviews none localized for African users or available in Pidgin.
Opportunity: ➡️ Create the first African-centric review platform that supports micro-businesses and multilingual engagement.

04. Defining the Users

Persona A — The Business Owner (Tunde, 34)

“I sell online but customers don’t trust new brands.” Wants visibility and credibility. Goal: Claim profile and showcase authentic customer reviews.

Persona B — The Customer (Chioma, 26)

“Before I buy anything, I check if the business is real.” Wants assurance and transparency. Goal: Read verified reviews and share experiences easily.

05. Design Goals

Goal Description Trust Display verified badges and transparent review flow. Simplicity Minimize friction from sign-up to review submission. Engagement Encourage users through “Top-Rated” and “Review Challenge” features. Verification Enable admin & reviewer moderation to validate authenticity.

06. User Flow & IA

Customer Flow: → Discover businesses → Read reviews → Write a review → Rate experience
Business Flow: → Register / Claim profile → Verify → Manage reviews → Respond & analyze
Information architecture includes: Home, Directory, Review Page, Dashboard, Admin Panel, Reviewer Panel.

07. Design Process

Low-Fidelity Wireframes

We started with paper sketches, then created low-fi wireframes to test content hierarchy and call-to-action clarity.

High-Fidelity Design

Color palette: Deep blue (trust), white (clarity), orange accent (energy).
Typography: Poppins & Inter for clean readability.
Visual Language: Simple icons, intuitive cards, and strong contrast ratios (AA compliant).
Tone: Professional yet relatable. Pidgin variants used for microcopy.

08. Key Screens

Landing Page: Hero section with “Claim Your Business” + “Write a Review” CTAs.
Business Profile: Verified badge, average rating, and top reviews displayed upfront.
Review Flow: Simple 3-step rating and text input with image upload option.
Dashboard: Metrics: review volume, average rating, sentiment chart.
Reviewer/Admin Panel: Moderation states (Pending, Under Review, Approved, Rejected).

09. Usability Testing

Conducted remote testing with 10 users (5 business owners, 5 customers).
Findings:
Simplified review submission increased completion rate by 40%.
Verified badge was the most trusted element.
Users requested mobile-first design and clearer “success” feedback

10. Results & KPIs

Focus KPI Target Tools Awareness 1M+ impressions in 2 months Meta Suite, Google Analytics Business Onboarding 5K+ businesses registered BisViews DB Customer Reviews 10K+ authentic reviews Mixpanel Trust Index 90% verified businesses Admin dashboard
