These lessons have inspired my book "Easy Bioinformatics: Essential Online Tools for Cancer Research" available on Amazon. My lessons were broken down into two sections:
1. Basic concepts
I start my lessons by explaining basic bioinformatic knowledge such as existing popular public datasets and the meaning of important values like z-score, q-value and log2 fold change.
2. Public online tools run-through
Based on an initial consultation, lessons were personalised to the researcher's needs. I explained click by click, how to generate graphs relevant to the research purpose with online tools like cBioPortal, Kaplan-Meier Plotter and WebGestalt. Some example analyses done with online tools are shown below.
