Through  our  research we discovered a cross-cultural need for  sharing, for sharing time, stories, and moments. Drinking and eating are an accessory to those moments, a lubricant for memories and exchanges. We felt this sharing was symbolized by  the pouring of drinks, opening the discussion and space for the moments to come. We explored the lengthening and defining transitions of meals. From water, to wine, to the digestive. We wanted to create an illustration of these moments through the Tipsy collection, a metaphor for the unwinding and relaxation that takes place during the ritual of eating. 

‍We began our journey with the research and discovery of drinking gestures of our respective cultures. We found countless examples of impactful gestures from jewish, latin american, western european and african influence. All of us being from such different parts of the world allowed us to uncover larger patterns in our cultures. 

The gesture of pouring was the most prevalent in all of our findings. We saw how pouring drinks is an art and how it celebrates the sharing of drinks. Sharing with friends and loved ones is the strongest pattern. As humans we want to share all we have not only for survival but also for love and beautiful moments. We created this product with the idea of elongating these sharing moments and symbolize it through our form and function. 

‍We created the Tipsy collection. The collection includes a large water carafe, a wine carafe, and three different glasses; water, wine and digestif. The carafes are the focal points of this collection. The handle allows for the users to tilt the carafe from the bottom in order to serve. The bottoms of the carafes have a dent in order to comfortably grip the base when tilting it. The dent in the bottom became our design language and is featured in all of the elements of the collection.
