Just make it look better

This was words spoken when I asked about design for this dinosaur of a website. In a rare occurrence where there was almost too much content I had my work cut out for me. Not only was the site an eye soar, but the content was not very well organized.

While you can run campaigns to push users to landing pages or share log styles posts on social media to get traffic to your site, it is hard to beat a good home page. This was my main focus of this project. How can we put the right information in front of the end users face without overwhelming or look like word vomit. Since the client did not have a clear path on the type of content they would like to feature I setup a way to feature certain content on the home page in a three column layout with the events block securing the fourth spot in the 2 columns. This was the move for sure and the client was very pleased with it.

Outside of the featured content on the home the client really desired a way for vendors to submit events to be managed by the admins of the site. I turned to The Events Calendar Pro for this. What a robust plugin to serve the purpose as well. Sometimes knowing the correct tool is half the battle. I was happy to serve a need for this client and especially one so close to home for me as I live within 20 minutes of the area.
