Shyamoli Cinema – Online Ticket Booking Platform

Shyamoli Cinema is one of the well-known cinema halls in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They needed a way for customers to browse showtimes, pick seats, and buy tickets online, while giving their management team real-time visibility into sales and operations.

I built the entire booking platform from scratch.

Ticket sales were handled manually at the counter. No online presence, no seat selection, no digital payment option. During peak hours and popular releases, the process was chaotic for both customers and staff. Management had no centralized reporting on ticket sales or revenue.

The most complex challenge was building a real-time seat reservation and locking system. When a customer selects a seat, it locks immediately so no one else can grab it. If payment isn't completed within the time window, the seat auto-releases back into availability. This had to work reliably under concurrent load without double-bookings, ensuring fairness for every customer in the queue.

Customer-facing booking flow – Browse current and upcoming shows, select seats from an interactive hall map, and complete checkout with real-time availability updates. The entire flow was designed to feel fast and intuitive, from show selection to ticket confirmation.

SSLCommerz payment integration – Secure payment gateway with real-time webhook verification. Every successful transaction is instantly confirmed, preventing double bookings and fraudulent payments.

Booking lifecycle management – Full lifecycle handling: confirmation, cancellation, refund eligibility, and automatic ticket re-availability. Customers and admins both get clear status at every step.

Admin reporting dashboard – A powerful reporting system for ticket sales, revenue streams, and show-wise performance breakdowns. Made financial tracking and decision-making significantly easier for the management team.

Scalable AWS infrastructure – Deployed on AWS with S3 for media storage and backups, ensuring reliability and smooth performance during peak booking times around popular releases.

Frontend: Next.js, TailwindCSS for a modern, responsive, and fast user interface.

Backend: NestJS, MongoDB for a scalable and secure API-driven architecture.

Cloud: AWS S3 for media storage, asset delivery, and backups.

Shyamoli Cinema went from manual counter-only ticketing to a fully automated online booking system. Customers can now browse, select, pay, and receive tickets digitally. The management team has real-time visibility into every show's performance, and the platform handles peak traffic without breaking a sweat.
