Role and Responsibilities: As the lead UX/UI designer, I was responsible for conducting user research, defining user personas, creating user flows, wireframing, prototyping, and designing the final user interface.
I worked closely with developers and product managers to design a seamless and engaging experience for pet owners, ensuring the app addressed their needs for managing pet care, including appointments, health records, and reminders.

Introduction

In collaboration with PetCare, I took on the role of UX/UI Designer to create an intuitive app that helps pet owners manage their pets’ health and well-being.
Using tools like Figma, Usertesting, and Adobe Photoshop, the project focused on developing a user-friendly platform for tracking health records, scheduling veterinary appointments, and setting reminders for important pet care tasks.
PetCare was designed to streamline these processes, prioritizing convenience and reliability, while providing an engaging experience for pet owners seeking to stay on top of their pets' needs.

Problems

Managing pet care can often be disorganized and stressful for owners, with scattered health records, missed appointments, and inconsistent reminders for vaccinations or medications.
PetCare needed a user-centric design that consolidates these tasks into one intuitive platform, making it easier for pet owners to keep track of their pets’ health and wellness.
The challenge was to design an engaging interface that caters to a diverse audience, including both tech-savvy and less experienced users, while addressing their unique needs.

User Research and Personas: Conduct in-depth research to understand pet owners' needs, preferences, and pain points. Develop user personas to guide the design process and address diverse user requirements effectively.
Comprehensive Health Management: Create a system to centralize pet health records, including vaccination schedules, medical history, and upcoming appointments, ensuring accessibility and organization.
Intuitive User Interface: Design a simple and engaging interface that caters to users of all tech proficiency levels, with straightforward navigation and clear calls to action.
Appointment Scheduling and Reminders: Develop a robust feature for scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling appointments, accompanied by automated reminders to prevent missed visits.
Customizable Notifications: Allow users to set reminders for important tasks like feeding schedules, medication, or grooming, tailoring the experience to individual pet care routines.

Discovery

In the Discovery phase, I focused on understanding the challenges and opportunities in pet care and appointment booking.
I identified key stakeholders, including pet owners, veterinarians, and clinic staff, to gain a holistic view of the ecosystem and uncover pain points related to finding care and scheduling appointments.

Research

I employed a comprehensive research approach to gather insights:
User Interviews and Surveys: I engaged with pet owners to collect qualitative data on their experiences, frustrations, and needs when managing pet care and booking veterinary appointments. This helped uncover common pain points and desired features.
Competitive Analysis: I analyzed existing pet care and veterinary apps to understand their strengths and weaknesses, benchmarking against industry standards and identifying gaps that PetCare could address.
Expert Consultations: I consulted with veterinarians and clinic staff to gain insights into practical challenges and requirements, ensuring that the design solutions were aligned with both pet owners' and professionals' needs.
Data Analysis: I reviewed existing data on pet care trends, user behavior, and common pet health concerns to inform design decisions and prioritize features that would enhance the user experience.
These research activities laid the foundation for defining core problems and designing a solution that effectively meets the needs of both pet owners and veterinary professionals.

Card Sorting

I conducted a card sorting exercise to understand how pet owners categorize pet care services and veterinary information. Participants were asked to organize various features and content of the PetCare app into logical groups based on their own mental models.
This exercise provided valuable insights into how users expect to navigate the app and helped inform the app's information architecture, ensuring a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.

Results

My solution was to design a visually engaging, user-friendly mobile app that prioritizes seamless navigation, efficient appointment booking, and easy access to pet health information. The design strikes a balance between functionality and simplicity, ensuring pet owners can quickly find veterinarians, schedule appointments, and manage pet care needs. Key UX/UI features included:

The Outcome
