Dan Nelken outlines this technique in his book to generate ideas. He calls this process as 'filling buckets'.
To fill buckets you look for any benefits, insights, truths, observations and attributes of the product or service. And then turn those insights into ads.
For example, the buckets for Spotify could be:

Playlists that know your taste
Listen on any device
Mood based playlists
Share tunes with friends
Loads of podcasts and videos
Offline listening options
Lyrics feature to sing along
