Yard: one website platform for manufactured-home dealers

The problem

After designing dozens of websites for manufactured-home dealers, I kept seeing the same thing: every new client paid for the same inventory backend, the same home-model pages and the same lead forms, rebuilt from scratch. The part that was different for each dealer was mostly how it looked.

What I designed

One shared system for inventory, home models, lead capture and page structure, built once for every dealer
Six templates on top of it: Classic, Modern, Bold, Minimal, Warm and Editorial
Brand colors as tokens, so changing one primary color or template restyles every page on desktop and phone
An admin that lets a dealer or agency set up a new site without a developer
The hardest call was deciding what each dealer should NOT be able to change. Keeping the structure shared is what makes the whole thing cheap to run.
The same real dealer site, re-themed in all six templates.

Every template is designed to work on a phone first, since that's where families browse homes.

Built for dealers and for the agencies that run sites for them.

The economics, designed in: about 44 hours of custom build becomes about five and a half hours of setup.

The result

Yard is live in private beta at yrd.homes. A new dealer site goes from a roughly 44-hour custom build to about five and a half hours of setup, and a dealer can rebrand the whole site with one switch.

Dealers kept getting the same inventory backend rebuilt from scratch, so I designed it once: one shared system, six templates, brand colors as tokens.
