Tools
As this is a remote project, I use many collaborative tools to ensure success.
Notion was used for taking notes and tracking tasks. Figma was used to design the web app. Zoom was used weekly for updates and meetings. For asynchronous communication we used Slack. To design our newsletter, I used Convert Kit. Lastly I used Canva for LinkedIn templates and PDFs.
The Team
I am one of two designers on a team of about 12 people working to make Nobos a reality. I was in charge of app design for web which the other designer converted to mobile design. There were multiple times we collaborated on designs for the web app and his feedback was invaluable.
I was solely responsible for designing all print and digital with feedback from the founders and marketer.
Research
User Research
Using data to inform the designs for this project is so important for it's success. I want to make sure I'm making decisions that benefit the intended users. Another designer conducted initial user research, establishing personas for me to use and reference throughout the process.
Example of a persona created by another designer. I updated the sample journey after carrying out a full user journey map.
User Journey
Once I had a good understanding of the users and their needs based on their personas, I created a user journey map. I mapped the actions users would take, any touchpoints involved, what they may be thinking and feeling, and identified opportunities, at each stage of using the app.
Snippet of the user journey map.
User Testing
The final MVP was also informed by both user research and user testing that I conducted with the assistance of one of Nobos' founders. I wrote a user testing script with prompts to guide the user to complete actions. Observing them figuring the app out gave me many data points for how to optimize the design and serve their needs. A sentiment analysis at the end, allowed us to get a sense of what they thought about their experience overall. I organized these findings in a FigJam file and analyzed them to find patterns and themes. The result was a design that was more user friendly, and anticipated the needs of the user.
Example of the notes I took when users visited each screen of the app. Each color post-it is a different user. Post-its were then grouped into themes.
Above shows the flow the users took during testing. They were guided through these goals with open-ended prompts.
UX Design for Web
Below you'll see images of screens I designed for the web app. Prior to landing on these designs, I had created low-fidelity mockups. Throughout the whole process I worked closely with our engineers, founders, marketers, and users.
Design For Social
The primary social channel for Nobos is LinkedIn, so I was tasked with designing visually appealing visuals for posts about both adventures and about company updates.
Below is a LinkedIn Carousel template I customized for Nobos to share adventure stories to better reach their target audience. It was created in Canva so that our marketer could easily replace the text.
LinkedIn Adventure Carousel
A carousel template from Canva customized for Nobos can be seen below. The purpose for this design is for providing information about the company on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn Informational Carousel
Below are banners I designed in Canva for our marketer to use on LinkedIn. Multiple designs were created so that we can refresh our LinkedIn page as necessary.

Email Design
Nobos wanted to keep in touch with everyone who had expressed interest in this early stage company. To do that, they asked me to design a newsletter using the branding and personality Nobos was starting to be known for. I collaborated with our marketing lead to determine necessary sections for the newsletter.

Results
Nobos now has a working MVP that was used by the engineers to build the live web app. I carried out user testing, identified patterns, and recommended changes based on that data. While Nobos seeks funding, these steps will be crucial to communicating their value and proof of concept. It even helped them tbe selected for an accelerator program. In the meantime, they have social templates that ensure their branding remain consistent and effective. I look forward to continuing to contribute to Nobos in this very exciting stage!
