A class assignment where we were asked to carry out a substantial sized scale project. Go Green or Go home is a detailed Project Management plan aimed to open a Hybrid Cars Dealership.



Project Description

Go Green or Go Home is an entirely new Hybrid Cars dealership with new premises, offices and management visions. Contributing to building environmentally conscious thinking when it comes to automobiles. The facility will operate with the help of renewable green energy to contribute to a lower carbon footprint.

Issue

Consumers are facing the difficulty of finding a one-stop shop where they can find and become educated on the perfect Hybrid vehicle for themselves

Purpose

The purpose of Go Green or Go Home is to construct a one-stop shop where customers can find their desired Hybrid car.

Business Objectives

To construct a hybrid cars dealership that will help educate people on hybrid cars, and will offer a one-stop shop for lovers of hybrid cars and environmental enthusiasts.

Goals

To construct a fully operating hybrid cars dealership that helps with educating people on hybrid cars and offering the sale of various brands of hybrid vehicles.

Expected Deliverables

  • Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) License
  • Drawings for contractors
  • Apply for city permits and business permits
  • Construction of the building (including inspections)
    • Interior and Exterior details
  • Solar Panels for electricity
  • Sign contracts with Car manufacturers (Toyota, Ford, Tesla, Nissan, Honda)
  • Presenting our business to potential investors, stakeholders and sponsors
  • Expanding business with other hybrid car producers such as BMW and other emerging vehicle brands as demand pulls.

Risks

  • Delays in start time due to weather conditions
  • Delays in opening due to hybrid cars not being delivered within the agreed-scheduled date

Constraints

  • Unpredicted expenses
    • Increased pricing in materials due to unpredicted events (ex. COVID-19 pandemic)
    • Temporarily stopped by the City of Toronto due to construction errors, resulting in delays and unpredicted expenses for hired contractors 
    • Increase in hybrid car price due to lack of labour - upon completion of construction of the dealership
    • Delays in receiving City Permits, resulting in wasted product completion time
    • Delays in finding contractors, resulting in wasted product completion time
    • Lack of available workforce 
    • Temporary halt by City of Toronto resulting in delays and additional expenses as from any mandatory limitation

Assumptions

  • All items/tasks are to be delivered within the scheduled time frame
  • Suppliers will deliver everything on time
  • The government will approve everything for us within the estimated time frame
  • Transparency
  • No uncontrollable/environmental disasters events 
  • All equipment and construction will be in good (up to standards) condition
  • All stakeholders will be at the meeting - so that communication is clear
  • We will be able to establish relationships with the investors, stakeholders and sponsors we have in mind
