DARK HEAVEN

I worked as a design/branding intern for Dark Heaven LLC, in Chicago. As an intern I was responsible for new merchandise design, monthly Soundcloud covers, and social media banners.

Social Media Banners:

These are social media headers/banners that are used for Dark Heaven's Twitter, Facebook, and Soundcloud. I chose to utilize Dark Heaven's color palette of purple, fuchsia, and blue, to create designs that were consistent with the brand's image. I added a gradient, grainy element to match the grunge/underground aesthetic of Dark Heaven's events. They were interested in a simple, minimalistic design that captured their overall aesthetic and could easily convey their brand in one simple image. I spent a few weeks looking over what Dark Heaven was currently using, and taking inspiration from their logo colors. After multiple iterations of color palette, imagery, and typography; these three designs were the final contenders that now appear across Dark Heaven's social media platforms.

Soundcloud Covers:

Below are the sound cloud covers, created and currently used for Dark Heaven's monthly Happy Hell mixes. A simplistic template was made to center the focus around the DJ image and name. The color palette changes each month, making it easy to visually determine which month each performer's mix is from.

Merchandise:

Featured below are the variety of merchandise designs considered for Dark Heaven's first merchandise (t-shirt) drop. I was tasked with creating a design that displays the brand name and an abstract image that conveys the techno, edgy, fun of Dark Heaven. The shirts were to be printed with white ink on black fabric, so with the use of only one color, it was important to create something was immediately eye-catching. Additionally, it was important for the shirt to be something that not only conveys the brand name, but would be desirable as a streetwear item.
After several weeks of brainstorming, designing, and communication with the heads of Dark Heaven, we settled on two design directions.
These are the two designs that were taken to the mockup/prototype phase. These specific designs were chosen because they encapsulated an abstract, 3D void that felt connected to the heart of Dark Heaven. I experimented with various compositions to satisfy all the "needs" Dark Heaven was looking for in their first merchandise drop.
