Toronto Dancesport is an annual 2-day ballroom competition in Toronto, ON, that needed a website to effectively update event details year after year. Their previous site was built by a developer who did not provide access for updates, creating a critical issue for their recurring event. We redesigned the website, implementing a customized WordPress dashboard to allow easy updates without relying on a developer. Our work included SEO optimization, graphic design, video editing for an intro video, and creating an animated logo used during the live event and social media campaigns.

Toronto Dancesport’s website was built by a previous developer who did not provide access for the client to update critical event details. As an annual competition, it was essential for the client to make regular updates to their website, including changes to dates, officials, and schedules.

However, the lack of control over their website made this task impossible, leading to outdated information and missed opportunities for keeping attendees updated. Our client was happy with their existing website design color palette and requested to keep this style with the new website. We discovered it is typical for dancesport competitions and ballroom dance studios to gravitate towards black and white (traditional colors in dancesport), and moody vibes to set the theme for their unique events. We were thrilled to begin!

We initiated the project with a website strategy meeting to fully understand the client’s needs and frustrations. The key focus was to create a website that was not only visually appealing but also easy to maintain without technical expertise while keeping the existing design style from the previous website.

We replaced the media gallery by using photos as background images throughout the website. During our research we noticed the existing color palette matched Porsche’s logo colors which helped draw more inspiration for the new web design.
