Roamr ― Redefining Event Exploration

Overview

Brief: Roamr is an event-discovery app. It blends features similar to Google Maps, Facebook Events & Instagram to create a social app where you can create events, share them with your friends, confirm attendance & discover things to do around your city. Project Scope: UX/UI, Mobile App Design, Branding, Motion Design
Outcome Summary: Utilizing user-friendly interfaces, a consistent brand across the app & an unmatched user experience in the background, resulted in a one-of-a-kind blueprint for THE major app in the event discovery world.

Problem & Challenges

Initial User Pain Points: Currently the typical user flow for a user to find, share & confirm attendance to events, individually as well as socially, is very scattered across different apps. There is a big gap in the market for an app where you can find events all over your city, share them, discuss them with your friends & really tailor your experience based on your preferences.
Project Goal: My main goal is to create an app where a typical user flow would be something like: User opens a map of his city with events tailored for him → User opens an event → User sends event to a friend → User clicks "interested" on the event → User goes back to map and repeats the process 🔁

The Event SuperApp

While trying to solve the complex task of creating an app for events that will keep users engaged through their entire event-finding process, I prioritized some features that would be crucial to the app. Here's what I came up with:
- A map with pins using a database of events happening soon - An 'Events' tab with a list of the database (for easier searchability) - An event details page - A search function - Social profiles - Messaging - A feed to see what events people are going to

Interactive Map Experience

When launching Roamr, the first feature a user will see is the map. It was crucial to make this a seamless experience. All the events on the map are carefully curated using the user's selected preferences during the account creation phase.

User Event Discovery

There needed to be somewhere to show all the events possible to the user in a simple list. This became the "Events" tab. From here, the user can tailor their results by using filters or search.
Clicking on an event will prompt the Quick Info Drawer. Here, the user can have a quick read of the event while still being able to close the drawer and continue browsing. Clicking on 'See more' will take the user to the Event Details Page, where they can save the event, send it to a friend, buy tickets & much more.
From the 'Events' or 'Map' tabs, the user can further nail down his results by using the search function. When in search mode, the user gets recommendations. Users can filter the results by events or accounts using the designated tabs.

Connect. Chat. Share.

The social aspect of Roamr is where the app truly shines. Users can follow each other, customize their profile, create events, share to friends, talk to each other and much more.
In order to keep retention while sharing & organizing events, messaging had to be integrated into the app. Instead of users going to 3rd party messengers, users will share an event or talk about their plans directly within the app, making Roamr the ultimate hub for social gathering.
A social feed was essential for users to get updates from their circle and connect with others who share their passions. When landing on the feed, users are greeted with suggestions on who to follow based on common interests or updates on which events people from their city are going to. They can also see when someone they follow creates an event or participates to one.

Conclusion

Final thoughts: Although Roamr is a just passion project, i really do believe that it could fill in a huge gap in the market for an all-in-one solution to social gatherings. Companies & event organizer are always posting their events on apps instagram & facebook, scattering the information across multiple platforms and making it confusing for users.

What if all of the social event planning process for people could be done on one single app ?
