Ella Denton
A brief overview of my writing experience over the last seven years:
September 2017 - July 2020: The Greenhouse Magazine
September 2019 - March 2020: New Views, National Theatre
In my final year of school, I participated in the New Views program of the National Theatre. I was paired with a professional playwright to develop my own thirty-minute play script, attending numerous workshops on specific aspects of storyline development and having regular meetings with my organiser at school. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic this project was halted so I was never able to complete my script.
September 2018 - March 2020: Other endeavours in Sixth Form
January - July 2021: The Washington Review, London School of Economics and Political Science
In my first year at the London School of Economics and Political Science, I and three other students founded the Washington Review, a journal with specific sections on the History, Law, Economics and Politics of the United States. I wrote an article on Eleanor Roosevelt's views on Israel through the lens of her personal column, My Day. The journal has since fallen inactive as I left the university for personal reasons in July of 2021.
December 2023 (ongoing): BBC Open Call
In December 2023, I sent my first full-length feature film to the BBC as part of their Open Call to writers of drama and comedy drama scripts. I am still waiting on a decision!
