A major UK bank was undertaking a significant 9-week service design lab to meet the challenge posed by disruptor neo-banks. I was parachuted in on weeks 5-8, on behalf of EY, to capture the expected output of the lab in a digestible story that could be shared with senior leadership

The first two weeks involved deep immersion in and contribution to the design sprints; understanding and predicting what the final outcome was likely to be, three weeks later.

I worked closely with multiple (and often conflicting) senior stakeholders to agree concept, script, visual style and storyboard, though these remained fluid.

Production time was limited to seven days and was subject to many changes as the lab reached its conclusions.

I was able to successfully predict and distill the lab's conclusions into a compelling story of how the bank will help customers to navigate their financial journey. The story was most critical but the final production value was also far richer than both the client and my team believed were possible in the timescale. Exceeding client expectations was a great win for me and for EY, but being able to raise the team I was asked to lead, to exceed their own expectations was even more fulfilling.
