ADPKD (Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease)

This is an animation I created to help spread awareness about autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. I started by creating the 3D model in ZBrush. I use multiple reference photos to make the diseased kidney as realistic as possible. Then I uploaded the finished model to Keyshot where I added materials and light source to make it look a bit more realistic. The final step was to add all of my assets to After Effects to make one cohesive and engaging animation! Check out the link below to see the full animation and the simplified work process description.

Animation Process

I started in ZBrush with basic shapes and slowly started building in the details.

1. This is in the beginning modeling stage on ZBrush before any color or texture was added.
2. This is at the end of the modeling process. All of the colors, texture and materials are added and it is ready to be rendered for the animation.

After the model was finished in ZBrush, I used Keyshot to apply some more materials and render out the .pngs I would use later for the animation.

3. Keyshot is rendering software I used to help make the model look a bit more life-like.

After all of the images were rendered, I used them to put together the animation in After Effects! I added background music, animated the text to explain the disease, and animated the model so it would move to key points on the screen.

4. I used After Effects to combine all of my assets and make one cohesive animation.

I hope you've learned a bit about ADPKD!
