Prologue

The banking industry in Nigeria is important for its increasing provision of financial services, products, and access to people. As of 2021, the number of active bank accounts in the country amounted to around 133.5 million. To help ease access to banking services, there has been a growing trend in providing improved products and service locations.
There are over 200 banking service providers, both commercial and micro-finance banks, with varying customer bases running into millions. The banking industry here is quite competitive. Banks try their best to win and retain customers.

Discovery

In the discovery stage, the goal is to understand the problems better by doing user research. The idea is to get a full view from the user's perspective of the problem as they experience the problem.

User Research

Objective: At this point of discovery, I would be getting insights from users directly and indirectly to spot the problems users experience when they use other banks' mobile apps to send money.
Methodology: Contextual inquiry, Surveys, and Competitor analysis
Participants: 9 participants for the contextual inquiry between the ages of 22 - 45. They are all full-time users of mobile banking apps. 20 participants for the survey done with Maze, and 5 bank mobile apps for the competitors analysis.
