WSU: Immersive Student Showcase Portal with VR Gallery

Commissioned by the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment at Western Sydney University, ARK360 designed, developed and hosted an interactive online portal featuring a custom-built virtual reality gallery. The initiative elevated the presentation of student work through a digital-first, immersive experience celebrating creativity, innovation and technical excellence across engineering and design disciplines.

Provide a professional platform to exhibit final-year and research projects across architecture, engineering and design. Enable visitors to explore projects in a 3D VR gallery replicating the atmosphere of an in-person exhibition, create a year-round digital alternative for open days, grad shows and industry showcases, and demonstrate the School's leadership in digital engagement and applied student outcomes.

A VR-enabled gallery powered by Kunstmatrix, offering a spatial, interactive tour of student work compatible with VR headsets and browsers. Individual student project pages with media, descriptions, downloadable artefacts and contextual research links, a secure content management interface for WSU staff, and a cloud-hosted, scalable platform accessible across desktop, mobile and VR.

Lean, agile delivery combining the Duda low-code platform for the portal, content management and hosting with Kunstmatrix for the immersive 3D exhibition experience. Design-led discovery through wireframes and clickable prototypes ensured alignment with faculty and branding teams, with curated virtual exhibition spaces delivering spatial navigation and interactivity, all designed to WCAG standards and university cybersecurity protocols.

Delivered in under 10 weeks, launched ahead of the faculty's end-of-year showcase with more than 100 student projects featured across multiple disciplines. Strong engagement from students, alumni, faculty and industry stakeholders, recognised as a benchmark for virtual academic showcases at WSU, and a flexible digital framework created to support future exhibitions and research presentations.
