Another sketch vs final comparison.
This one is on the rougher side; you can see what I put my long-suffering clients through with my rough little scribbles!
Creating a scene like this is always a challenge, but the fun is in adding background details and characters.
In this scene in particular I had fun adding Prim and Proper Jewelry Selling Man, and I even did a cheeky self-insert in the form of the woman trying on bags ;)

Sharing a rare behind-the-scenes look at my illustration process 👀
When clients first come to me with ideas, the first step is always to build a shared goal for the final illustration with them 🤝
After making sure we're on the same page about the goal of the final product, the next step is always to provide several sketches ✍️
I’m a very messy sketcher in general 😅 and I’m always impressed by illustrators who do really meticulous sketches with shading and fine details.
Somehow though I’ve always been lucky to have clients who trust my process (and have excellent imaginations) and can make the leap from a scribbled mess to the finished product 💡
Any illustrators out there want to share your process for sharing sketches?
