Cover image for I served as a featured
I served as a featured national speaker at Wayne State University’s Institute of Gerontology Issues in Aging 2026 conference. I developed and delivered a 70-minute presentation, “Solutions to Isolation & Loneliness for Caregivers & Older Adults,” for social workers, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, case managers, and other aging-services professionals. The presentation translated research on social connection, healthy aging, caregiving, and community-based interventions into practical strategies for professional practice. This work reflects my experience transforming complex evidence into clear professional education, structured presentations, and audience-centered recommendations.

AcademThis 2026 reflective analysis examined lessons from the intergenerational Tellegacy program with Meals on Wheels clients and volunteers. The work integrated program implementation, volunteer experiences, psychosocial measurement, data interpretation, and scholarly dissemination. The featured figure summarizes Ambivalent Ageism Scale outcomes for nine volunteers. Mean scores decreased from 10.11 at baseline to 1.33 after participation, with 89% reporting reduced ageist perceptions. This project demonstrates my experience translating community-based program data into clear figures, practical findings, and publication-ready scholarship. Holloway, J., Southerland, J. Cover image for Published in Innovation in Aging,
Published in Innovation in Aging, this abstract extended the dissemination of findings from my intergenerational health-promotion feasibility research. The project examined whether structured connections between trained university students and older adults could support social connection and well-being. The visualization presents participant-level pre- and post-program results across the UCLA Loneliness Scale, Satisfaction With Life Scale, and PHQ-9. This work reflects my experience in community-based research, program evaluation, data interpretation, and scholarly publication. Holloway, J. (2024).
