What if a suit of armor became a city?
I reimagined Qaitbay’s Mamluk armor as a futuristic metropolis in the year 2200. Rather than simply designing a futuristic city inspired by the armor, I translated its physical structure into an entire urban system.
The armor’s 87 individual plates become monumental buildings and districts. The chainmail becomes a network of roads, bridges, and elevated walkways. The central chest plate becomes the city’s palace and architectural heart. Smaller plates become homes, plazas, transportation hubs, and towers, while the original gold ornamentation evolves into glowing infrastructure and illuminated geometric patterns.
The final piece brings the city to life vehicles move through its streets, people inhabit its spaces, and the architecture functions as one interconnected organism.
The goal was to preserve the visual language and identity of the original 15th-century armor while imagining what its structure could become centuries into the future.

Process
I began with the original Open Access artwork and treated the armor itself as an architectural blueprint. I broke down its plates, chainmail, ornamentation, geometry, and hierarchy, then translated each element into a corresponding part of a futuristic city.
The final animation reveals that transformation piece by piece:
armor → plates → buildings → chainmail → roads → ornament → infrastructure → city. See flora link for final video.

Project Description:
Breathe. is a concept luxury fragrance brand inspired by architecture, minimalism, and quiet luxury. I've always wanted to create my own perfume brand, so this challenge was the perfect opportunity to bring that vision to life. The goal was to design a calm, editorial shopping experience using warm neutral tones, clean layouts, and subtle interactions.
Finish Layer:
I used Block Animations to create smooth scroll reveals, Block Transforms to add depth and balance to the layouts, and Stacks to keep the design responsive across different screen sizes. These features helped create a refined and immersive user experience.
