He runs a highly requested mobile pet grooming van in Denver, but standard booking calendars are quietly killing his margins. Because generic apps let customers pick any time slot they want, Sam spends two to three hours a day zig-zagging across the city in traffic, burning fuel and losing out on actual appointments just to accommodate a messy schedule. To fix this, I built Paws & Puddle, a web app that solves his geographic routing nightmare before a booking ever hits the calendar. Instead of a basic form, I engineered a zero-click geo-gate. It automatically fetches a user's zip code via location services and dynamically filters the calendar to only show availability for the specific days Sam’s van is already assigned to their neighborhood. Because forced logins instantly kill conversion rates, I designed a completely frictionless guest checkout. But to ensure long-term retention, the Thank You page features a "Guest-to-Auth" funnel that seamlessly converts their inputted data into an account post-booking, simply by asking the user to "set a password to track your van's ETA." Backed by a full operator console where Sam can manage custom service zones, assign route days, and trigger automated status emails, this build proves that premium, minimalist design and aggressive problem-solving belong in the exact same app. Check out the demo video below to see the end-to-end flow in action! @Lovable #lovablechallenge

OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra this week. It can open Blender, model an entire house, and turn it into a walkable 3D scene in Unreal Engine, from one prompt, without a human touching a single tool. It also scored 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3, a benchmark built specifically to measure general intelligence. OpenAI's own president, Greg Brockman, told reporters, "Welcome to the AGI era." Asked whether this is the model where AGI actually began, he said, "It might be about this model." Here's the part worth sitting with if you're an independent designer or developer. Independent researchers ran the same benchmark and got 62.7%, not 99.9%. Still record breaking, just not the number OpenAI is leading with. That gap between a company's internal number and an outside, reproducible one is exactly the kind of thing freelancers can't afford to skip past, because we're the ones who'll actually be handed these tools mid-project and expected to know what they can and can't do. The 3D modeling capability is the part I'd actually pay attention to over the AGI framing. A model that can go from prompt to walkable 3D scene changes what a client can reasonably ask for on a tight turnaround, and it changes what "fast" means in a proposal. Whether or not this is AGI is a debate for OpenAI's marketing team. Whether it changes your next quote is not. What's your take, is this something you're already testing in your workflow, or waiting to see how it performs outside a demo?

THE WAVE THAT REMEMBERS 🌊 What happens to a masterpiece when there is no one left to remember it? Inspired by Hokusai’s iconic The Great Wave off Kanagawa, The Wave That Remembers imagines a world far beyond our own — a time when humanity has vanished, cities have fallen beneath the sea, and nature has reclaimed everything we once believed would last forever. At the center of the work, the wave is no longer simply a moment of danger. It becomes a witness. It has outlived the people who feared it. It has outlived the structures they built. It has outlived the civilization that tried to control the world around it. What remains is an ocean carrying the memory of a species that is no longer there. I wanted to preserve the unmistakable visual language of Hokusai’s original while transforming its meaning into something much larger: a reflection on impermanence, environmental power, human legacy, and the passage of time. The drowned traces of civilization are deliberately subtle — fragments of a world that once felt permanent, now becoming part of the landscape. The contrast between the enduring force of nature and the fragile remains of humanity is at the heart of the piece. Rather than creating a conventional futuristic reinterpretation, I wanted the image to feel like an archaeological discovery from a future that no longer has humans in it — familiar, haunting, and strangely beautiful. The wave remembers. We don't. Created for the FLORA Museum Challenge, reimagining a public-domain work from The Met through contemporary AI-assisted visual storytelling.
