Cover image for The International Society of Hair
The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons was my first large client at my first role as a Front End Developer. The organization has been around for decades, and is a platform for hair surgeons to connect with patients in their area, release new findings, and be a resource for patients dealing with hair loss. I was quite green when taking on this project. I was just of age to start going to bars and have had no experience hair loss of any kind. That being said, it is a slowly traumatizing and identity changing experience for many who go through it. I kept this in mind when drafting their new website. It was for the patients as much as it was for the doctors, and I carried that empathy throughout the process. After asking the directors of the ISHRS what inspired them, how they wanted to bring their website into the current year, and what they want for the future, I came up with wireframes that week and passed them off to my higher ups to present. They said to go ahead, and after I presented them with their high resolution mockups, they gave us the green light for the project. As my first foray into Wordpress and UX/UI design, I think back to this project often it is a bedrock experience for me. I am proud of the fact they the organization still uses my design all of these years later.

Cover image for Black Coffee ATL is a
Black Coffee ATL is a Black owned cafe in Atlanta, Georgia right off of the westside Beltline Trail. I'm a barista there, and the owner wanted to update the cafe's website. I gave a crack coming up with a new design by using my experience working behind the bar. We wanted to have our menu be easily accessible online, as well as increase online orders. I made a couple of frames using the copy, media, typeface, and color selection from the website at the time. When the owner gave handed my designs off to a marketing agency, it helped them come up with a solution more quickly. We've increased orders to 2 to 3 a day as opposed to 2 to 3 a week. We now rank in the top 3 Google results for Black owned cafes in Atlanta.
