Your strongest proof might be showing up after people have already made up their minds. I see this on a lot of websites:
Client logos, testimonials, and case studies - all neatly placed in one section near the bottom of the page.
It looks organized. But it doesn’t really match how people browse. Visitors start judging the company from the first screen. By the time they reach the proof, they may already feel unsure - or they may have left.
And not every type of proof does the same job.
1) Client logos answer: “Have companies like ours trusted them before?” They’re useful early, especially when the brand isn’t widely known yet.
2) Testimonials answer: “What are they like to work with?” The finished work can show quality. But it can’t show how you communicate, handle complexity, or respond when things change. A specific testimonial can.
3) Case studies answer: “Can they actually do what they say?” They turn a claim into something tangible: the challenge, the decisions, and the result.
That’s why I don’t think social proof should live in one isolated “Trusted by” section. Put it where the doubt happens.
Making a bold claim? Back it up nearby. Explaining a complex service? Show a relevant case. Asking someone to book a call? Give them a reason to feel comfortable doing it.
Sometimes a website doesn’t need more proof. It just needs to stop hiding the proof it already has.
