"What happens when Caravaggio discovers Wi-Fi?" For the FLORA × The Met challenge, I started building a brand identity called Doom and Scroll. A mashup of Renaissance grandeur and the very modern chaos of a smartphone notification. The concept was simple but fun to obsess over: what if old-master paintings caught our worst habit — endless scrolling? Chiaroscuro lighting, velvet gowns, gilded frames... but the divine light isn't from heaven, it's from a phone screen. For the museum remix challenge, I picked Bingham's "Fur Traders Descending the Missouri" (1845, The Met) as my canvas. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/10159 That quiet, idealized frontier scene became the perfect contrast for a loud, anxious, hyper-connected reimagining. I called mine "il tragetto digitale" — a fake plaque for a very real modern obsession. Every brushstroke, every fold of fabric, every shadow was built to make you laugh first, then pause and think about how much time we all lose to our screens. Branding doesn't always have to explain itself with logos and typefaces. Sometimes it just needs a joke dressed in oil paint. Satire is a powerful branding tool, mocking a universal habit (doom scrolling) makes the identity relatable and sticky Reworking an existing masterpiece with a new narrative lens shows how classic references can carry entirely new meaning. Built all the entire creative journey on the FLORA canvas. starting with the original art and concept, exploring traditional process, techniques and actions, iterating through models and visual directions, then refining the final video edit, all within one connected workflow.
I also recorded a full process walkthrough, covering why I chose the piece, the concept behind it, my iterations, model choices, techniques, and how everything came together on the FLORA canvas.
