3D Car Configurator : Ergo Automotive
One of the more technically interesting pieces of the Ergo project was building a real-time 3D car configurator directly in the browser.
The configurator lets users customize their vehicle before purchase — switching between five exterior paint finishes (Obsidian Black, Pearl White, Inferno Red, Midnight Blue, Lunar Silver), selecting wheel packages, and choosing interior trims. Every selection updates the 3D model live with no page reload.
Under the hood it's built with Three.js and React Three Fiber, loading a .glb model and applying material changes dynamically via mesh traversal. Color switching works by targeting the car body mesh and swapping its material color property in real time. Orbit controls let users rotate and inspect the vehicle from any angle.
The configurator is embedded as a full section within a Next.js App Router site, sitting alongside a pricing breakdown that updates as options are selected.

The hero is the site's handshake, so it had to carry the whole idea in a few seconds.
Rather than a static image with a headline over it, the hero responds to cursor and scroll input with subtle parallax and depth. The freight reads as something in motion rather than a photograph of something that moved. Restraint mattered here: enough life to signal that this site behaves differently, not so much that it turns into a demo reel and gets in the way of the message.
