This project takes the form of an illustrated children’s book, part of the fictional collection “Marias com muita coragem” (“Marias with great courage”), dedicated to celebrating women who shaped the history of Portuguese Design and Visual Culture. The first volume focuses on Maria Keil, a pioneering artist and designer whose legacy remains underrepresented. Through biography, illustration, and interactive activities, the book introduces children (ages 9–12) to her work while raising awareness of the role of women in design. Conceived as both an editorial object and a cultural mediation tool, it combines thoughtful design choices with an educational mission: to foster visual and historical literacy, diversify cultural references, and empower young readers to imagine and create.
