We are currently building out the visual identity and content system for Orato, a first-person global news platform focused on real human stories.
As part of this, we are looking for a designer to develop a scalable, globally adaptable visual system across our site and all distribution channels.
Below is the expected scope of work:
1. Site Landing Pages – Design
Clean, editorial-style homepage design
Intuitively and easy to navigate design 
Strong emphasis on headline layouts, storytelling and readability
Modular layout (to allow rotation of stories, not static)
Sections for:
Breaking Stories 
Standard Stories (evergreen)
Featured / Hero Story
Categories (Conflict, Health, Crime, etc.)
Op-Eds
Daily “Quote / Thought of the Day” module
Optional light “Joke of the Day” (subtle, culturally adaptable)
Mobile-first responsiveness is key

2. Social Media Templates (Global System)
We want a repeatable template system for content distribution.
Templates for each category:
Conflict
Health
Crime & Corruption
Environment
Science & Tech
Opinion / Op-Ed
Human Stories / Features
Should include:
Headline space
Image/video frame
Subtle Orato branding
Designed for:
Instagram
LinkedIn
X (Twitter)
TikTok (vertical-friendly versions)
YouTube channel
4. Hero Image Templates (For Articles)
Visual identity for story thumbnails and headers
Should feel editorial (not clickbait)
Space for:
Title overlay
Optional quote or first-person hook
Consistent across all stories
5. Social Media Page Banners
Platform-specific banners for:
LinkedIn
X (Twitter)
YouTube
Should communicate:
“Real stories. First-person journalism.”
Clean, credible, news-led aesthetic
6. Podcast Template
Cover art for podcast distribution
Variations for:
Episode-specific thumbnails
YouTube podcast visuals
Should align with overall Orato branding
Space for guest name + episode title
Design Direction
Editorial, new-media, not corporate
Appealing to the masses
Appealing element of whitespace
Comfortable to read font-size and font-style
Minimal, but strong
Trustworthy, global news feel (think: modern newsroom, not blog)
Avoid overly flashy or “viral-style” graphics
Focus on clarity, hierarchy, and consistency
Deliverables
Canva source files (preferred)
Export-ready templates for all formats
Clear system that can be reused internally
Compensation
This is a paid, project-based remote engagement
We are open to fixed project pricing or structured milestone-based proposals
