🌊 What if the sea remembered everything we thought was only a story?
Not a myth.
Not a legend.
But something that was waiting to be found.
On a small island surrounded by endless ocean, Theo grows up listening to his grandmother's stories about sailors, strange creatures, hidden places, and things beneath the waves.
He never knew whether to believe her.
Until one day, something washes ashore.
A small translucent orb.
And that night, it points him toward the sea.
🌊 THE SEA KEEPS SECRETS
Theo follows it across the moonlit ocean to an abandoned ship.
He boards.
He climbs to the upper deck.
And finds something he never expected.
A skeleton.
Sitting alone.
Drinking tea.
For this pilot, I built the world from the ground up in Cantina — Theo, the environments, the maritime folklore, the mystery, the dialogue, sound, music, and the entire cinematic story.
But this isn't really a story about finding a mysterious object.
It's about discovering that the stories we grow up hearing...
might have been trying to prepare us for what's waiting beyond the horizon.
And the sea?
It keeps secrets.

Title: The Artifact (Episode 1: "Home")
Logline: In a world reduced to dust, one man's last inherited object might be the key to something humanity thought was gone forever — a home.
The Artifact follows Jaxson, one of the last people alive in a world where the atmosphere collapsed and civilization was erased down to bare desert. He lives in isolation with his friend James, scavenging meaning from a landscape with nothing left to scavenge — until a single object from his childhood, entrusted to him by his father with the words "when you need a home, you'll find this," turns out to be more than a keepsake.
The pilot opens with Jaxson's own voice defining the stakes of this world: survival without purpose, waiting for an ending rather than living toward anything. That changes the moment he rediscovers the artifact his father gave him. Paired with a map James has been silently piecing together, the two set out across the wasteland to a massive, unnatural circular mark scorched into the desert — a scar too precise to be geological. When Jaxson places the artifact into a socket built to fit it exactly, the ground answers: a buried city rises from beneath the sand, shedding centuries of burial in real time.
The episode ends not with an explanation, but a reveal — deliberately withholding the why. Who built the city? Why was it hidden, and why was the key entrusted to Jaxson's family specifically? Is this discovery a rescue for what's left of humanity, or does it wake something meant to stay buried? James's own unexplained find (the map) raises a second, parallel mystery still unresolved by episode's end, seeding a second character thread beyond Jaxson's.
This pilot is built to expand: the city itself becomes the setting for episode 2, the father's backstory and his connection to the artifact opens a mystery to unravel across the series, and the bond between Jaxson and James — two survivors who've had nothing but each other — gives the show its emotional core as they're forced to navigate whatever they've just uncovered together.

Blood and Magic - Episode 01
Blood and Magic is a dark fantasy series about Aurelia, a young woman searching for answers about her past in a kingdom where magic is feared, controlled and exploited.
After losing her family to a mysterious soulless army, Aurelia has spent years trying to understand what happened and whether the clues left behind are connected to the kingdom’s hidden magic.
In the pilot, Aurelia secretly leaves the city and meets her companions, Jack and Theo, to continue their investigation. Using a mysterious magical stone, they enter a hidden, buried library-temple where they hope to finally connect the fragments of a mystery they have been chasing for years.
But the deeper Aurelia searches, the more she begins to question whether the answers she has been looking for are actually about magic at all.
Where I would take the series next
Beyond the pilot, Aurelia’s search would expand from a personal mystery into a much larger conflict surrounding the kingdom’s relationship with magic.
The buried library-temple would become a key location for the trio as they uncover fragments of forgotten history, forbidden magic, and the truth behind the soulless army. At the same time, Aurelia would begin to realize that her mother may have left her a clue for a reason she never understood.
Jack’s hidden magical abilities and Theo’s position within the royal family would create their own complications, forcing the three friends to decide how much they are willing to risk for the truth.
As the story continues, Aurelia would have to confront the possibility that her family’s disappearance, the kingdom’s exploitation of magic, and her mother’s final clue are all connected and that finding the truth could put all three of them in danger.
A little note from me
Aurelia is a character I have imagined and carried with me since I was young. Blood and Magic is, in many ways, a story I have been growing alongside for years, so getting the chance to finally bring Aurelia and her world to life has been especially meaningful to me.
Thank you for creating this challenge and for giving creators the opportunity to build something from scratch in Cantina. I had so much fun bringing a character I have known for so long into a new medium, and I learned a lot throughout the process.

THE GOOD STUFF
A corporation owns everyone's dreams. REM sells bootleg ones out of the lining of his coat, in a parking lot, in broad daylight, and nobody walking past even looks at him.
Every episode is one sale. You're the customer. The whole thing is shot through your glasses, so you never see your face, and neither does he.
The pilot has REM working outside a big-box store. You walk up, he clocks you immediately, and he starts running you through the latest shipment. Dreams, fresh in, one color at a time. Then you ask him for something stronger. He always has something stronger. He'll judge you for it, and he'll sell it to you anyway.
Where it goes next: same lot, same coat, a new customer every episode. That's the format, and the format is the joke. Whatever you came looking for, REM has a color for it and a speech to go with it.
"This is what you're looking for." He says it every time, and it's always true. The pilot cuts right there, with the iridescent one already sold and no idea what's inside it. A spicy dream, or one last dinner with your parents on a school night. You decide what counts as stronger.
The next episode opens that dream. And that's where the series starts showing its hand: every customer asks for one thing, but what they walk away with says a lot more about them than it does about REM.
