Every Additional Click Costs You Customers
Between "I want this" and "I bought it," every extra step is a chance to lose the sale.
Checkout is where the money actually happens, and it's where most stores quietly bleed revenue. Not because the product is wrong or the price is too high. Because the path to pay is longer than it needs to be.
Here's the thing about a customer at checkout. They've already decided. They want to buy. That's the hardest part of the entire funnel, and you've won it. Then every additional click gives that decision time to weaken. Every extra field is a small reason to pause. Every new page is another moment for doubt, distraction, or a ringing phone to pull them away.
You didn't lose them because they changed their mind. You lost them because you gave them the room to.
Watch where the steps pile up. Forcing account creation before purchase. Asking for information you don't actually need. Splitting checkout across four separate pages. Making people re-enter details they already gave you. Each one feels minor. Together they're a funnel full of exits.
The fix is subtraction, not addition. Offer guest checkout. Cut every field that isn't essential. Collapse the flow into as few steps as possible. Autofill what you can. Make paying feel like one smooth motion instead of a form marathon.
The best checkout is the one the customer barely remembers, because it didn't make them think.
Every click between wanting and buying is a risk.
Remove the clicks, and you stop giving people chances to leave.
I independently developed this Sales Enablement strategy as a concept to identify opportunities to improve revenue alignment across Marketing, Sales, and Product. The proposal focused on creating a shared lead-management SLA, improving sales velocity, building a buyer-focused content strategy, establishing a centralized enablement hub, and creating stronger Sales–Marketing feedback loops. I also incorporated buyer personas, Jobs-to-Be-Done, sales enablement workflows, and a 30/60/90-day execution roadmap. This was not formally implemented by the company; it was a strategic proposal demonstrating how I approach complex business challenges, identify revenue opportunities, and translate ideas into actionable frameworks.
