Claude Code isn’t just a coding assistant anymore—it feels like an operating system for AI-driven engineering.
I’ve been using it daily across eight projects (Python, Rust, Ruby on Rails, PHP, Laravel), and the March 2026 updates genuinely changed how I work.
Voice mode lets me think out loud and dictate architecture decisions wherever I am. The 1M token context means I can drop in entire codebases and it actually keeps track of everything. Opus 4.6 is noticeably better at handling complex debugging, not just surface-level fixes.
What really stood out is the shift in workflow. Hooks gave me visibility into token usage, which exposed a lot of inefficiencies. And with skills and subagents, I can now encode repeatable processes and delegate them.
It’s not perfect yet, but it clearly feels like a move toward AI-native development.
