Ever had a design look perfect in your head, but turn out completely different once you started building it?

It's interesting how ideas evolve throughout the creative process. Sometimes the final result turns out even better than expected, and other times you find yourself rethinking the entire approach.

From the first rough sketch to the final design, there's always something that changes along the way.

Curious, does your final design usually stay close to your original vision, or does it evolve into something completely different?

Two different approaches to the same Shopify product page.

Option A: Editorial layout. Large imagery, generous spacing, and a stronger focus on brand storytelling.

Option B: Product-first layout. Clear pricing, visible product options, and a prominent Add to Cart button.

Both can look great, but they create very different shopping experiences.

If you were building a premium DTC brand, which direction would you choose?

A or B? And why?

Love the comparison! Option A feels more premium and brand-driven, perfect for this product. Option B is more direct for conversions. Both are solid!

Across my career, I've worked with more than 100 clients. One call worth getting right before you spend on design: is this a brand problem or an explanation problem? A rebrand fixes a mismatch between the company and how it presents itself. If buyers can't tell what your product does, a new identity leaves that question open. The explanation still has to be written. List what buyers get wrong about you. If most of it is about what the product does and who it's for, start with the explanation.
