Across my career, I've worked with more than 100 clients. One call worth getting right before you spend on design: is this a brand problem or an explanation problem? A rebrand fixes a mismatch between the company and how it presents itself. If buyers can't tell what your product does, a new identity leaves that question open. The explanation still has to be written. List what buyers get wrong about you. If most of it is about what the product does and who it's for, start with the explanation.

Seen this on so many service business sites. The founder asks for a new logo, and the real fix is a hero that says what they sell and for whom.

Excellent work!

So true. I'd add that the order matters even when both problems exist. A clear explanation gives the rebrand something to express, so doing it first usually makes the design work stronger and faster too.

Brand problem or explanation problem is such a useful question to ask before any rebrand. Listing what buyers get wrong is a simple exercise that saves a lot of wasted design budget.
