Okay so Claude Design just launched and if you're freelancing as a designer you need to hear about this.

𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘀:

It's a new tool from Anthropic. Basically you give it your brand files (like your colors and fonts and some examples of past work you've done) and it learns your specific style. Then when you need to build a presentation or document or mockup it does the whole thing for you.

It runs on Claude Opus 4.7 which is their newest model.

𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲'𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: Is this going to replace freelance designers?

Nope. Not even close. But it IS going to replace all those hours you waste on repetitive boring work.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗱𝗼:

Figure out what your client actually wants. That's still you reading between the lines.

Come up with the creative concepts and ideas. That's all you.

Understand vague client feedback. Like when they say "make it more premium" the AI has no clue what that means. But you know they probably want more white space and maybe a darker color palette.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂:

Cut your deck building time from like 4 hours down to maybe 30 minutes.

Keep all your fonts and colors consistent without you having to manually double check everything.

Work like you're directing a junior designer. You just say stuff like "this feels too crowded" or "make that heading way bigger" and it does it.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆:

You can take way more clients without working more hours. Like instead of maxing out at 3 projects you could probably handle 5 or 6 now.

Your money per hour gets way better. Same project fee but you're spending less time on it so your effective hourly rate goes up.

You basically become the creative director on every project. And guess what? Clients pay way more for strategy and direction than they do for just clicking buttons in Figma.

𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲:

Say you charge $2000 for a brand deck right now.

Old way: Takes you 8 hours to finish. You're making $250 per hour.

New way with Claude Design: Takes you 3 hours. You're making $666 per hour.

Same money coming in but you're working way less. That's literally the whole game.

𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁:

Some clients are definitely going to try this: "Oh you used AI so I should pay less now right?" Don't fall for that. You're getting paid for your thinking and your creative judgment and your taste. Not for how many hours you physically worked.

If you're pretty new to freelancing I'd say learn the design basics first. You really can't direct AI well if you don't know what good design actually looks like.

𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: How's this different from Canva or Figma AI?

Yeah so there's a real difference here.

Canva gives you templates but then you're still editing everything manually.

Figma AI suggests some layout stuff but you're still building all the actual pages yourself.

Claude Design is different because it learns your exact brand style. Like the specific blue you always use and the specific fonts and the way you typically lay things out. Then it builds complete decks and complete documents with all of that already applied. You're just reviewing and tweaking.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀:

If you're still charging by the hour this might scare you a little. Because fewer hours means less money right?

But that's the wrong way to think about it. You should switch to value based pricing. Like "This brand deck costs $2000" instead of "I charge $100 per hour for however long it takes."

When you charge by value Claude Design literally makes you more money because you're delivering the same quality work in way less time.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂:

Client proposals: Instead of spending 3 hours making a beautiful custom proposal you spend 30 minutes.

Pitch decks: Client needs it by tomorrow morning? No problem now.

Brand guidelines: Build a full 15 page brand book in an afternoon instead of a week.

Social media templates: Make a complete set in an hour.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼:

Start learning how to use this stuff now. Don't wait around to see what happens.

Get your brand files organized. Keep your colors and fonts and past projects somewhere accessible because Claude needs those examples to learn your style.

Raise your prices. Seriously. You're faster now and faster is worth more not less.

Spend that extra time finding better clients. Use the time you save to hunt for clients who actually pay well instead of taking whatever comes your way.

𝗠𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀:

Freelancers who learn to work with AI are going to make way more money than freelancers who don't. That's just what I think is going to happen.

This tool lets you scale your income without scaling your hours. And isn't that literally the dream for every freelancer? Make more money without working nights and weekends?

You don't need to hire anyone. You don't need to burn yourself out. You just work smarter.

Use Claude Design for the execution stuff. Use your actual brain for the creative stuff.

That's honestly the winning formula right there.
