When designing a new feature, I start by imagining the best possible user experience, without worrying about implementation complexity. This establishes our north star: "This is what we want to achieve."
Then I work with engineering to break it down to "This is what we can ship now." You'd be surprised how often something that seems complex is actually feasible, but you'll never know unless you have candid conversations with your dev team.
It's about balancing empathy for your users with empathy for your engineers. By the way, this version never saw light of day. But it was the foundation we built on.

What are the unwritten rules of good design?
Like everything, the labels and stickers that hide on the undersides and insides of our products have been considerately designed, often following strict brand and system rules.
I love systems, so typographic, grid-based design will always have a place in my heart. This is my small tribute to micrographics, each following the systems I've been seeing in the wild.
