Every website I've built has been custom coded. That has served me well, but it has one obvious downside: the client can't go in and change anything themselves afterwards even if you build them a dashboard or use payload, they find it difficult. Enough people have asked me for something they can actually operate that I've decided to learn Framer and Webflow properly, and I'd like to earn the Expert badges for both while I'm at it.
So before I start, I wanted to ask the people who've already been through it.
Did the badge change anything in practice for you? I'm curious whether the kind of enquiry you get actually shifted afterwards, or whether it's mostly a nice thing to have sitting on the profile. From the outside the two look like very different amounts of work, Framer seems to run its directory through Contra directly, while Webflow wants certification exams and a portfolio review first. So I'd rather do them in the right order than find out later I did it backwards.
If you've been through the Webflow review, what do they actually weight when they look at your work? Everyone mentions accessibility and SEO, but I haven't found anyone who's described what that means in practice.
And if there's something you wish you'd known before you started either one, I'd like to hear that too.
I'm planning to learn on real briefs rather than tutorial files, so I'm taking on a few projects for free while I go and writing up the process as I do it. If you've got an idea you've never got round to, send it over. And if you've earned either badge, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing how it went.
