Most landing pages don't fail at design.
They fail in the first 3 seconds.
I build Shopify and Webflow sites for a living, and the highest-converting pages I've shipped almost never win on "prettier." They win on clarity. What actually moves the needle :
1/ One promise, above the fold. If a visitor can't tell what you do and why it matters before scrolling, you've already lost them. Headline beats hero animation.
2/ Speed is conversion. Every 100ms of load time is money. A gorgeous page that loads in 5s converts worse than a plain one that loads in 1s.
3/ Design for the thumb. Most paid traffic is mobile. If it isn't effortless one-handed, it doesn't convert — full stop.
4/ One job per section. Every block should move the visitor one step closer to the action. If a section doesn't, cut it.
5/ Proof beats adjectives. A real logo wall and "trusted by 10,000 customers" does more than three paragraphs of "premium, innovative, world-class."
The pattern is clarity, speed, focus, proof. Beauty is the multiplier, not the foundation.
What's the single change that boosted conversion most on a page you've worked on? Curious to hear.
