ClipForge is a Windows desktop app that's always quietly recording, so you never miss a highlight. It keeps a rolling buffer of the last few seconds of your screen — press a hotkey, or just say "clip that," and the moment you already missed is saved to a video file. I built it end to end in C# and .NET 8: the native capture and encoding pipeline, the interface, the clip library, and the Windows installer. Frames are captured directly from the GPU using
Windows.Graphics.Capture and Direct3D 11 and encoded in hardware through Media Foundation, so the heavy work stays on the graphics card rather than the CPU. Includes full-screen, window and region capture, a searchable clip library with thumbnails, customisable hotkeys, and offline voice triggers that need no internet connection.
