What happens when you stop trying to make something new and start reimagining something old?
Lately Iāve been feeling a little uninspired, so Iāve been reconnecting with nature instead of chasing novelty.
Iām experimenting with turning nature paintings from The Met Open Access collection into ASCII mixed-media pieces.
Even as paintings, nature removes the pressure to be āoriginalā and replaces it with curiosity.

The constraint of ASCII forces attention back to composition, which most digital tools actively remove.

Taking part in the FLORA Technique challenge, I used it as a framework to develop something Iāve been building as part of my ongoing project ā Astral Couture.
Astral Couture is a speculative fashion system where garments are not just visual objects, but functional identities designed for future environments.
In this series, I focused on a concept I call ācosmic gardenersā ā characters designed for regenerative life on distant moons. Each look combines:
ā a couture garment as a bio-responsive system
ā a personal spacecraft as an extension of identity
ā and āseeding flowersā designed to restore and transform alien landscapes
The goal wasnāt just to generate images, but to prototype a repeatable creative workflow where fashion, environment, and narrative evolve together.
This is part of a larger direction Iām exploring through my work ā building cohesive visual worlds where design operates as a system, not a single output.
FLORA made it possible to structure this thinking into a Technique and start shaping it as a tool.
