Why a flashy website won't always work
I just built a landing page for BankKeeping, India's only B2B bank loan management platform for SMEs. No parallax videos. No gradient overlays. No animated counters.
Their audience is SME owners and CFOs in their 40s and 50s managing crores in bank exposure. A flashy fintech page would have signaled "startup trying too hard." They needed a page that felt like it was built by someone who understands banking.
So every decision served conversion, not decoration. The hero headline is confrontational: "Your bank is charging you more than you agreed to." Testimonials lead with rupee amounts (₹2.67 Crore Found, ₹34 Lakhs Recovered) because that's what this audience trusts. A simulated dashboard lets visitors feel the product before signing up. The FAQ handles objections before anyone has to ask.
Designers love showing range through visual complexity. But range also means knowing when to pull back. The best landing page isn't the one that wins design awards. It's the one that gets the demo booked.
